Ayers Rock Software provides project and program management services. When we manage your project, we treat it like a business.
Our management style is "benevolent dictatorship". The project manager, as a benevolent dictator and not a subject matter expert, actively seeks knowledge, information, and opinions from project team members and industry experts. A benevolent dictator does not micromanage; a benevolent dictator leads.
By asking questions framed in the business context and by participating in vigorous discussions, the PM can often guide and empower the project team to make the best decision for the project (and therefore for the business). But if the team can't agree on the best decision, the PM will make the decision that's best for the project, even if it's not the popular decision, and will take personal responsibility for it.
